Charles Cabinets has been a trusted name in custom cabinetry since 1954, when Don Charles founded the company at its current location in Roseville, Minnesota. What began as a small cabinet shop built on craftsmanship and integrity has grown into a full-service custom cabinetry business known for timeless design, precision woodworking, and exceptional customer care.

In 1974, Don Charles hired a young apprentice, Jim Schreier, who quickly proved his skill and dedication. Two years later, Jim’s father, Matthew Schreier, purchased the business, bringing with him two decades of cabinetmaking experience. Together, father and son built upon the company’s strong foundation until Matt’s retirement in 1991, when Jim and his wife, Deb, took ownership. Under their leadership, Charles Cabinets expanded its capabilities—introducing computerized drafting, a spacious new showroom, and state-of-the-art equipment that elevated both design and production quality.

In 2017, Patrick (Pat) Heavirland purchased the business, continuing the legacy of craftsmanship and integrity. A Marine Corps veteran with a degree in Architectural Drafting, Pat spent over 20 years as a designer, carpenter, and contractor through his company, Heavirland Homes. Having worked closely with Charles Cabinets for many years, Pat admired the company’s workmanship and customer-first philosophy. When the opportunity arose to carry that legacy forward, he stepped in with a passion for fine woodworking and a commitment to exceptional service.

Today, Charles Cabinets remains dedicated to creating custom cabinetry that reflects your lifestyle, enhances your home, and stands the test of time. With many long-term employees—some with over 40 years of experience—our team blends old-world craftsmanship with modern design and technology.
